Learn how to create with clay! Students will work on the potters' wheel in this 4 or 6-week focus class.  Learn from the beginning or build on previous experience. The final session will include variations on surface decorating and glazing techniques. No experience necessary!  Pieces will be fired and can be picked up 2-3 weeks after the last class. Note: Due to limited space, we can only store final pieces for up to two months after a class. Any remaining pieces will be donated beyond this time.

Clay, glazing materials, and firings included. 

Please bring an apron and towel from home.

6 week Course Outline:

Week 1: Learning how to use the potter's wheel, including centering and pulling clay to create a vessel. Instructors will demo and guide students.

Week 2-4: Students will practice and gain further experience with instructor guidance and student-driven projects, including bowls, mugs, vases, vessels 

Week 5: Students will trim pieces, add handles, and do surface decoration ( including underglazes and the sgraffito technique.)

Week 6: Final glazing techniques and surface decoration of bisque pieces. Pick up pieces 2-3 weeks later.

Due to health concerns, we recommend students wear masks. If you are feeling unwell, are showing symptoms, have been diagnosed or been in contact with someone diagnosed, or have been exposed, we ask that you please stay home. Please contact us to let us know.  We will continue to use a HEPA Filter in our space.
